WGC Course Tour

HOLE 1

HOLE 1 - Par 5, 578 yards

The only par-5 on the course features a wide-open landing area for your tee-shot, customary to Donald Ross’ belief that the opening hole should enable the player to get a feel for his swing without undue stress.

HOLE 2

HOLE 2 - Par 3, 147 yards

This well-bunkered pushup green requires a precise shot to have a good chance at birdie. Be mindful of the wind as anything off-line will require a tough up-and-down.

HOLE 3

HOLE 3 - Par 4, 385 yards

Out-of-bounds and a strategically placed tee box begs you to bail out to the left, but a well-placed drive up the right side of the fairway will give you the best angle in. Do not be long on this uphill approach to a two-tiered green known for scurrying downhill putts off the front of this slippery putting surface.

HOLE 4

HOLE 4 - Par 4, 373 yards

Pick your line and watch your drive soar from the highest point on the property. Longer hitters can challenge the chocolate-drops on the left side for a short-iron in.

HOLE 5

HOLE 5 - Par 4, 438 yards

Don’t let the cross bunkers trick you into pulling your drive left on this blind tee shot. Distance control will be important on your approach to the largest green on the course. Make sure to ring the bell to let the group behind know it’s all clear to hit!

HOLE 6

HOLE 6 - Par 4, 405 yards

A drive down the right side provides the shortest way home, but carefully placed mounds along the edge of the fairway introduces some risk to that line. The approach shot plays over a hidden burn to a well bunkered green set on a flat.

HOLE 7

HOLE 7 - Par 3, 183 yards

A strong mid-to-long iron You’ll want to club-up as players who are short will watch as their ball rolls 25 yards back down the slope, leaving a difficult blind recovery shot. Par is a good score here.

HOLE 8

HOLE 8 - Par 4, 340 yards

Be as aggressive as you want on this short dogleg left which will test your accuracy off the tee. Don’t be fooled by the look of this green from the fairway; it can be very difficult to hold, and recovery shots will be tricky. For those who play it right, a late-round birdie can be had.

HOLE 9

HOLE 9 - Par 4, 446 yards

The ninth hole has been recognized as one of the top 100 holes in the country by Golf Magazine. The #1 handicap hole on the course features a forced carry over water to a tumbling plateau fairway. Shorter hitters will elect to bail out left, while longer hitters are dared to bite off as much as they can for a closer look at the pin. Approach shots must be precise, with bunkers guarding both sides of the green, and a false front that sends short shots rolling 40 yards back down the steep slope. Ryder Cup captain, Ben Crenshaw, referred to Whitinsville Golf Club as a “hidden Ross gem”, while selecting the closing hole as one of the best 18 designed by the renowned architect.
